One of the best parts about visiting Walt Disney World is that it's never the same trip twice. There's always something new happening as a way to entice guests to make the regular pilgrimage to Orlando in order to experience the four theme parks again and again.

While many people are probably considering holding off on visiting Walt Disney World until Star Wars Galaxy's Edge opens in the late-fall of 2019, there are plenty of great reasons not to wait, and Disney Parks recently announced a number of limited time events that might make you consider making the trip sooner rather than later.

Mickey and Minnie's Surprise CelebrationThe Move It! Shake It! Dance It! Street Party is a parade that been going on at the Magic Kingdom for some time, but it's going to get something of a makeover in 2019. Beginning January 18, the parade's name will be changed to the Move It! Shake It! MousekeDance It! Street Party in honor of the birthday boy, one Mickey Mouse, who turns 90 years old at the end of 2018. The birthday party is scheduled to last throughout most of 2019. All of Main Street U.S.A. will be getting on the celebration as well, with barbershop quartet The Dapper Dan's and other musical acts performing special numbers to celebrate both Mickey and Minnie Mouse.Image Courtesy WDWNews.com/Disney

The Incredibles at Disney's Hollywood StudiosIn 2018, Disney's Hollywood Studios received a major upgrade in the form of Toy Story Land. Several other Pixar characters will be taking the spotlight as well in 2019. The first of these will be the Incredibles superhero family. Beginning January 18, the area currently known as Pixar Place will be transformed into a city block from the city of Munciberg, the home of the Incredibles. Guests will be able to meet Edna Mode, see some of her superset creations, and also meet Mr. Incredible, Elastigirl and Frozone. Music and games are also promised. Mike and Sully from Monsters Inc. will also make an appearance later in the year.

Lightning McQueen's Racing AcademyLater in the spring of 2019, another Pixar celebrity will take the stage when Lightning McQueen opens Lightning McQueen's Racing Academy. Lightning will welcome guests as if they are the next generation of rookie racers and offer his expertise and experience to them. This promises to tell the "untold story" of Lightning McQueen, which sounds like it will be a lot of fun for fans of the Cars movies. The exact start date of this one has not yet been announced, but it also has no set end date, so it will probably be around for a while.

Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party2019 marks the 25th anniversary of The Lion King, and in addition to the movie being remade by Disney, some of the popular characters will be hanging out at Disney's Animal Kingdom next year in order to celebrate the event. Timon and Rafiki will be on hand beginning January 18 to host the Hakuna Matata Time Dance Party, which will offer World Music that younger guests should enjoy dancing along with. In addition, new Lion King-themed photo opportunities will be available for guests to insert themselves into moments from the movie. Epcot International Festival of the ArtsThe International Festival of the Arts has been going on at Epcot for many years, and it has officially been scheduled for 2019. The event will begin on January 18 and run through February 25. In addition to the visual arts on display, music and performance will be an even bigger part of the festival next year, with the Disney on Broadway Concert Series running every day of the week driving the celebration. Epcot International Flower & Garden FestivalFollowing the International Festival of the Arts will be the International Flower and Garden Festival, which will run in 2019 from March 6 to June 3. Not Even Lucasfilm Story Writers Know Episode IXs Title

Fans want to know what the next Star Wars movie is going to be called, and it turns out so do the people who work for Lucasfilm. Pablo Hidalgo, a member of the Lucasfilm Story Group, recently admitted on Twitter that, while he may be on the "inside" of many Star Wars decisions, he has no idea what the name of the final episode of the trilogy is called. Pablo Hidalgo takes things a step further on Twitter than to say that he simply doesn't know what the title of Star Wars Episode IX will be, he adds in the idea that the movie may not even have a title quite yet.

It's certainly a possibility that the film has yet to be titled. While working titles have probably been suggested or at least thought of by writer and director J.J. Abrams, the fact is that the film is in no hurry. A franchise like Star Wars doesn't need to put up posters in theaters to sell tickets and until the movie is ready to show a trailer, a title isn't exactly necessary.

The recent situation around Avengers: Endgame showed Disney that the buzz around the question of what the movie will be called is as good as any marketing the studio can pay for. Also, since we only got the title of the new Marvel movie a handful of months before it released, the same will certainly work for Star Wars so there's no rush there.

The question of the title of Episode IX has begun to heat up in recent weeks because it was at about this point two years ago that the title for Star Wars Episode VIII was revealed, leading fans to wonder if the title for the next film might be revealed soon as well. With no word from Disney or Lucasfilm, and an indication that even many senior people don't know what the movie will be called, it feels unlikely we're going to get the title revealed in the next few days.

Instead, it seems more likely that Disney will follow the strategy laid out with Avengers 4 and reveal the title of the movie as part of the film's first trailer. With Star Wars Celebration barely more than two months away, it feels like that's where we can expect the trailer to drop. Seeing it drop before the event when it's this close doesn't seem likely, and if the event goes by without a trailer at all the fans might burn Chicago down.

Numerous people have claimed to have inside information regarding the Episode IX title and titles like Son of Darkness, which is an awful title,and Balance of the Force, which is a much better one, have been suggested. While some were able to guess the title of The Last Jedi, and thus might be able to guess this new title as well, there's no evidence that any of the "leaked" titles are legit.

It does all go to show just how tightly studios are keeping information in order to prevent leaks from taking place. As part of the Lucasfiilm Story Group, Pablo Hidalgo and others are tasked keeping the Star Wars universe coherent among the various mediums and determining what qualifies as Star Wars canon and what does not.

Certainly, Episode IX itself will be canon, and as such, Hidalgo probably knows the story of the movie as well as anybody. The fact that he could probably recite dialogue from the script, but doesn't know what the movie is called, is certainly evidence that nobody who doesn't need to know the title actually does. Not that one would expect a major leak to come from Hidalgo, but you can never be too careful.

Of course, one then wonders who actually does know the title. As I mentioned, J.J. Abrams probably has given the movie a title, if only in his own head. At the same time, he doesn't get to title the movie all by himself. Kathleen Kennedy probably has veto power over the title at the very least, and so if there is an official title, we can guess the two of them probably know it. There may be others inside Lucasfilm or Disney who would need to be part of that conversation as well.

The fact that the title hasn't been released probably means that it's not yet gone to print on a million boxes holding all of the new Star Wars merch that will be launched later this year in anticipation of the new movie. A lot of leaks and spoilers come via merchandising campaigns and I would guess that Lucasfilm would simply go ahead and release the title officially before it ended up in front of too many eyes, regardless of how many NDAs those people had signed.

There likely will need to be some marketing people inside Lucasfilm who are made aware of the title so that campaigns around it can get rolling so that they're ready to go once the official reveal is made.

It is also possible, as Pablo Hidalgo suggests, that the movie doesn't have a title yet. It's easy enough to just refer to the project internally as Episode IX without giving it another name and so much of the focus of the project has clearly been on actually making the movie, so perhaps there have been no serious discussions about a title as yet. Maybe Hidalgo suggests the movie might not have a title because he would expect to know it if it did.

In the end, the title itself is just one piece of information among many that fans are potentially excited about. How this trilogy is going to end is going to be a big deal for a lot of people and there's always the hope that the title will give us some hint of what is to come in the actual movie. Of course, none of the titles of Star Wars movies really give anything away. The Force Awakens was suitable vague and The Last Jedi simply had everybody wondering who it was referring to up until the movie came out.

Once we know what Star Wars Episode IX is called we'll simply spend the rest of the year debating what the title means, which is, of course, the point.

Of course, there is always another possibility. Perhaps Lucasfilm won't bother revealing the title or the trailer until the movie comes out. Such a thing seems insane but if there's one film series that could likely pull it off it would be Star Wars. Many fans don't need to see a second of footage to buy opening night tickets, and how many people would want to go as soon as possible just to see what was at the center of all the mystery? It's unlikely, but with these reveals coming closer and closer to a film's actual release, it feels like we're getting close to a point where this could happen.

What Venom's Success Really Means For Sony's Spider-Verse

What Venom's Success Really Means For Sony's Spider-Verse

A few short years ago, Sony basically rented out Spider-Man after the franchise-killing The Amazing Spider-Man 2. This year, with Spidey off fighting aliens in the MCU, Sony decided it was going to try its hand again at universe-building, only this time it would be with Spider-Man antagonist Venom. Before Venom's release, there was a lot of suspicion that the anti-hero film would be a dud, and that it would mark Sony's ambitious hopes for a shared cinematic Spider-Verse as dead on arrival.

Obviously those fears did not bear out. Venom has been a smash hit for Sony, enjoying a worldwide box office of over $822 million and counting, which vaults the symbiote over other more established and recognizable superheroes like Wonder Woman and the Justice League. Venom has also pushed Sony past box office milestones and helped the studio ink a multi-picture deal with IMAX.

Venom delivered without the web-slinger and its success seems to paint a rosy picture for the future of Sony's Spider-Verse, setting up future spinoffs of Spider-Man characters for box office riches. However, what Venom's success really means is that Venom has a bright future; it doesn't mean that Sony's Spider-Verse at large is primed for prosperity.

This notion might seem antithetical. After all, if Venom is the start of the Spider-Verse, and Venom is a success, doesn't that mean that the Spider-Verse is likely to be? And sure, Venom's performance is certainly the best possible outcome for Sony, as a flop likely would have killed the Spider-Verse in its infancy. Yet, while Venom got this shared cinematic universe started off on the right foot, box office-wise at least, it does not guarantee anything about the non-Venom films in the works.

The reason, for the most part, comes down to character. To kick off its shared cinematic universe, Sony picked Venom: a very popular Spider-Man villain that had already been depicted in live action. Venom is extremely recognizable with a cool look and he has great awareness among even those only tangentially attuned to the world of comic book characters.

Now consider the other names reportedly tapped for their own spinoff films in Sony's Spider-Verse after Venom: Black Cat, Silver Sable, Morbius, Nightwatch, Silk, and Kraven the Hunter. Of those I would guess that Black Cat or maybe Morbius has the greatest name value, but to say that they are a step down from Venom is an understatement.

Iron Man was a B-list character before his 2008 Marvel Studios film, but he was still followed by characters of similar popularity and name value with Thor and Captain America. Venom may be an A-list Spidey villain, but characters like Nightwatch and Silk do not enjoy the same cachet as the Green Goblin or Doctor Octopus.

This is in no way an indictment of Sony's choices; it's awesome that some lesser-known characters will get some cinematic shine while more still will be battling Spider-Man on the MCU side of things. Yet the relative obscurity of the characters coming to Sony's Spider-Verse makes the universe as a whole very much a question mark.

To Venom's credit, it didn't commit that increasingly common sin of doing too much universe-building for future films and not enough storytelling in its own movie. Venom simply used its end-credits scene to tease a sequel that will see Woody Harrelson's Carnage enter the fray. But by not teasing something like Morbius, it puts more of an onus on that film to sell itself, with a character that the wider public probably hasn't heard of.

In many ways it all comes back to the big question we had before Venom was released: "Can he work without Spider-Man?" The reviews for the film seem to indicate that no, he cannot. But reviews aren't the sole arbiter -- or even the primary one -- of success. And the worldwide audience has spoken, and in an indiscernible Tom Hardy accent, said 'We don't need no stinking Spider-Man!'

Nevertheless, what's true for Venom may not be true for the rest of the Spider-Verse. Just because Venom doesn't need Spider-Man doesn't mean the other characters don't. Peter Parker is the glue that holds these characters together on the page and we don't yet know how well they will all work in his absence. (Supposedly Spider-Man will be in the Kraven the Hunter movie, but that film is still in the early stages, so everything is TBD.)

Sure, like Venom, these spinoff characters have had their own solo comics, but that's in a world where they were first introduced opposite the web-slinger. My guess is that the less prominent the character, the more keenly Spidey's absence will be felt. And without Spider-Man to sell these spinoffs to general audiences, the rest of the Spider-Verse has its work cut out for it.

Despite all these reservations, Sony's Spider-Verse is in a much better position than it was prior to Venom's release, when reports of all the spinoffs seemed like a studio counting its eggs before they hatched. Now Sony has two 2020 dates marked for Spider-Man spinoffs, presumably Morbius and Venom 2.

The latter is the real product of Venom's success. Venom 2 will build off the first film's resonance with audiences and likely be a huge hit at the box office, especially internationally. But two Venom films or five that all crack $800 million do not a successful shared cinematic universe make. If only Iron Man movies were hits, it would be a series, not a cinematic universe; a team effort is required.

Still, Venom 2 and Morbius can begin to lay greater groundwork for this shared cinematic universe, using Venom as the anchor to build upon. There are other things working in the Spider-Verse's favor too, like the fact that Sony is clearly going for talent. Landing Oscar winner Jared Leto for the role of Dr. Michael Morbius certainly shouldn't hurt that film's chances and Morbius can be pitched as something of a horror/vampire movie as well as a comic book movie.

Minus its poor critical reception, Venom put Sony in just about the best position possible for its Spider-Verse to succeed. Hopefully Venom's performance will embolden Sony to make interesting creative choices with the rest of this universe, upping the quality and giving us something different than the MCU and DCEU. But it is important to distinguish what Venom's success does and doesn't mean, and while the future is promising for the symbiote, the fortunes of Sony's Spider-Verse at large remain unknown.

There are no Sony Spider-Verse (SSV?) movies next year but you won't be wanting for comic book properties as 2019 is chock full of them. Check out all of next year's biggest movies in our 2019 Release Schedule.





None of that is to say Sony's Spider-Verse can't work; the early financial success of Venom makes a sequel a certainty, and the continued development of a Morbius film likely. But any success that cinematic universe may find won't stem from Venom.

Although Jared Leto's Joker in the DC Extended Universe retains traditional, distinguishing physical features like green hair and bleached white skin, Suicide Squad director David Ayer also took some creative liberties with the Clown Prince of Crime's look, namely by giving him a lot of tattoos and substituting grills for his natural pearly whites. After Suicide Squad was released, Ayer revealed that the reason Joker's teeth were gone was because Batman smashed them in retaliation for his arch-nemesis killing Robin, but this presented a plot hole given Harley Quinn's relationship with The Joker. More than two years later, Ayer has attributed this inconsistency to the DCEU timeline changing after Suicide Squad finished filming, as he wrote below:

Here's more context for those who need it. When Amanda Waller "introduces" Harley Quinn at the beginning of Suicide Squad, the villainess is listed as an "accomplice to the murder of Robin," and that by itself wouldn't have presented any problems. The problem came when David Ayer said that the reason Joker had those grills was because Batman broke them before locking him in Arkham Asylum, which is why the cackling evildoer got that 'Damaged' forehead tattoo afterwards. However, since Joker had the grills and ink on his forehead when he met Dr. Harleen Quinzel, the sequence of events don't match up.

Now thanks to Ayer answering fan questions on Twitter, we know this is a result of the DCEU timeline being altered after Suicide Squad wrapped principal photography, which was unfortunately out of the director's hands. Plot hole explained! The easy way around this is to just deem David Ayer's explanation for Joker's grills and 'Damaged' tattoo non-canon and simply come up with a different reason for why Jared Leto's Clown Prince of Crime has them. It's not hard to imagine Batman punching Joker in the face hard enough to break his teeth for a different reason.

Of course, the DCEU timeline wasn't the only thing changed during the Suicide Squad creative process. Much like Justice League later on, Suicide Squad went through significant reshoots in the first half of 2016 to reportedly alter the tone. As a result, many of Leto's Joker scenes were cut from the final product, which the actor wasn't too pleased about. In the end, while Suicide Squad wasn't a critical hit, it was successful commercially, enough for Warner Bros to order a sequel. For Suicide Squad 2, however, the directing reins have been passed to Gavin O'Connor, though the project was recently delayed due to Will Smith's schedule. Whenever Suicide Squad 2 gets off the ground, let's hope there aren't any more of these sudden DCEU timeline changes, especially concerning Batman's greatest enemy.

Along with Suicide Squad 2, Jared Leto's Joker is also set to be featured in Gotham City Sirens, an untitled movie about his relationship with Harley Quinn and even his own standalone movie, although it remains to be seen which of these projects will actually move forward.
