One Cool Thing Eddie Redmayne Got To Do In The Crimes Of Grindelwald He Didnt Do In Fantastic Beasts

In Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, we were introduced to a new place and time in J.K. Rowling's Wizarding World through the eyes of a character we had only heard about in the Harry Potter films, Eddie Redmayne's Newt Scamander. The mumbly Magizoologist introduced us to what the magical world looks like here in the States, and in this autumn's sequel, he will be heading back across the pond to Europe where we will get to see Paris. Fantastic Beasts: The Crimes of Grindelwald will allow for Eddie Redmayne to get to do something cool that he didn't in the first film, and it's something a lot of us would want to do: go to Hogwarts. The actor explained his desire to visit that most hallowed of magical institutions, saying:

As someone who has grown up watching all of J.K. Rowling's films, I had always dreamt of going to Hogwarts and I felt a little short-changed that I didn't get to go to Hogwarts [in the first Fantastic Beasts film], so in this film I get to go to Hogwarts.

I don't know how anyone could blame Eddie Redmayne. Many of us want to visit Hogwarts and see Newt Scamander go to back to the place he was expelled from. That's how you know Eddie Redmayne is a true fan; he got to be a part of J.K. Rowling's universe, a dream come true, but he was still a little bummed that he couldn't go to Hogwarts. As he told an audience at CinemaCon, as reported by Entertainment Weekly, he grew up with the Harry Potter films, and I suspect he wouldn't be the only fan who grew up with the books and films that would feel that way. Hogwarts is as much a part of Harry Potter as the characters themselves, and its absence feels like homesickness for fans. Fortunately for Eddie Redmayne, Newt Scamander finally goes to Hogwarts in The Crimes of Grindelwald.

The opening up of the Wizarding World that took place in the first Fantastic Beasts film was incredible and continues to show that J.K. Rowling's imagination and creativity make all of us look severely lacking by comparison. Yet that film was largely divorced from the Harry Potter story we know, with only small links to that mythology. I suspect many Potterheads are excited to get back to Hogwarts and have some sense of the familiar in The Crimes of Grindelwald. The first trailer for The Crimes of Grindelwald even opens up on a shot of the iconic castle, taking fans back to the warm embrace of that place they spent so much time in.

This upcoming sequel film will not only return us to Hogwarts, but it will have much more connective tissue to the story and mythology we fell in love with in the Harry Potter series. In addition to Hogwarts, we are getting to really see the Gellert Grindelwald we heard about who was the progenitor of the path Voldemort would one day take. This film will also other names that make fans ears perk up like Leta Lestrange and Nicolas Flamel, and of course, a young Albus Dumbledore played by Jude Law.

Josh Brolin's Cable Hanging Out With Deadpool Creator Rob Liefeld Is A Lot Of Fun

It is always cool to see comic book creators hanging out with the people bringing their creations to life. One of the artists whose characters have hit the big screen in a big way is Rob Liefeld. The man behind Deadpool got to see his weird, lewd and fourth-wall breaking character fully realized in the 2016 film and now another one of his creations is making his cinematic debut. The time-traveling Nathan Summers, better known as Cable, is joining Wade Wilson in Deadpool 2. In advance of that film's debut, Rob Liefeld was hanging out with Cable actor Josh Brolin on the latter's birthday. Check it out.

Man, does Josh Brolin look badass as Cable or what? With Josh Brolin hitting the big 5-0, the actor is now the same age as Cable's creator and that is indeed 100 years of awesome with both men having been a part of creating some truly memorable characters and stories over the years. I like the hashtag teasing the Brolinaissance. I don't know if Josh Brolin needs a renaissance, a la how Matthew McConaughey did, but with the actor's slate this year, it's hard to argue. Josh Brolin gets to be Cable in Deadpool 2, Thanos in Avengers: Infinity War and he is also returning for Sicario 2: Soldado. Brolinaissance indeed. Rob Liefeld even got to rock one of Cable's gloves for a time. Gloves, pouches, utility belts and gigantic guns are iconic, if occasionally made fun of, elements of Rob Liefeld's Cable design and it's cool to see Josh Brolin's on-screen portrayal maintaining that.

The casting of Cable was hugely important to fans who grew up loving the character, be it the version from the comics, his appearances in the X-Men animated series or as a great fighter in Marvel vs. Capcom. So it is so cool and reassuring to see Cable's creator being so enthused with his fellow 50-year-old's casting and portrayal as the character. And who can argue, Cable looked awesome in the Deadpool 2 trailer and Josh Brolin even looks all Cable in this Instagram post. Funnily someone even comments that Rob Liefeld looks like fellow X-Force member and frequent Cable compatriot, Shatterstar, in this photo. And while he's missing the glowing eye, I can see it. While I'm pretty sure Rob Liefeld wouldn't be playing him, it's looking like Shatterstar will show up in Deadpool 2.

You can expect to see a lot more fun social media marketing, hilarious advertisements and trolling between the actors ahead of Deadpool 2's release. Deadpool 2 flashdances its way into theaters on May 18th. New Glass Image Has Samuel L. Jackson In Full Supervillain Costume

Superhero movies are everywhere nowadays, which can be seen with the various cinematic universes currently dominating the box office. And while Avengers: Infinity War is the most ambitious crossover movie ever, there's a unique one approaching with M. Night Shyamalan's upcoming thriller Glass. Shyamalan will bring together the characters from his recent hit Split alongside the 2000 classic Unbreakable. This includes Bruce Willis' superpowered David Dunn and Samuel L. Jackson's villainous Mr. Glass. While the public hasn't seen any footage of Split, the first images are arriving, including Mr. Glass is full villain accoutrements. Check it out below.

Not one for subtlety, we see Mr. Glass out in the world, and wearing a costume that would be appropriate for superhero settings like the MCU or DCEU. He's got his signature metallic purple trench coat, and is even wearing a broach with the letters "MG". From this image, which comes to us from EW, it seems Elijah Price has truly embraced his identity as a villain, teasing exciting twists once Glass arrives in theaters.

Unbreakable was a very unique look at a comic book movie, as things were grounded and set in the real world. The movie is about Bruce Willis' David Dunn grappling with his abilities, while Elijah Prince's villainous intentions develop. The movie ends with Mr. Glass being born, believing he was meant to the be villain to David's superhero. It's a psychological and complex look into superhero tropes, and now M. Night Shyamalan will be able to expand the narrative with Split.

An Unbreakable originally sequel seemed like a pipe dream, as the years went by without any developments. But then Split happened. Seemingly in a world of its own, the film's final scene featured Bruce Willis' cameo as David, revealing they're set in the same universe. Glass will bring together the full ensemble of characters, with James McAvoy, Anya-Taylor Joy, Spencer Treat Clark, and Charlayne Woodard all reprising roles from either Unbreakable or Split.

Glass will be set at least partly in a mental health facility, which will house the likes of David Dunn, Mr. Glass, and James McAvoy's Kevin Wendall Crumb. Sarah Paulson joins the cast as psychiatrist Dr. Ellie Staple, who specializes in treating patients who believe they have superpowers. But as anyone who has seen Split and Unbreakable knows, there are some seriously dangerous guys in that facility. It's unclear how they'll inevitably escape, but it'll be fascinating to see how M. Night Shyamalan services characters that were separated by over a decade of filmmaking.

With M. Night Shyamalan's name synonymous with unexpected movie twists, one has to wonder how Glass will end up shocking the audience. The pressure is on to deliver a satisfying conclusion for the franchise, and possibly win back some moviegoers who haven't been following Shyamalan's latest work.

Glass will arrive in theaters on January 18, 2019. In the meantime, check out our 2018 release list to plan your next trip to the movies.
