Chris Pine Knows You're Talking About His Penis, Is Reading The Tweets

Chris Pine has a movie coming out called Outlaw King. It played at the Toronto International Film Festival. Most of the early reaction, however, hasn't been about the movie itself. Instead, it's been about his own Outlaw King. I mean penis. Did that come through? It's been about his penis, and instead of covering his head in the sand, he's been reading all the reactions, leading to what seems like a combination of amusement and frustration.

"Oh yeah. (I read them). They're fun. They're effing brutal."

The admission came during an appearance on The Graham Norton Show, and it's hard to not empathize with him. Even after the director cut 20 minutes from the film's final runtime, it's still just under two hours. That's a healthy length, and all anyone wants to talk about is a couple frames of his manhood. I'm sure that's a weird feeling, and the fact that so many reputable outlets are so comfortable talking about it is definitely exposing something about where we're at with nudity right now. But at the end of the day, though, all you can really do is laugh about it.

Rolling with the obsession and just leaning into it is way more disarming than causing a stink, and at the end of the day, the whole point of movies is to get people talking and to create a little distraction in people's lives. That's why the most popular actors and actresses make millions of dollars for every movie they're in. They're adding something to society, but you can't always choose what that something is.Sometimes, as in his role in Star Trek, it's a few hours of spectacle. Sometimes, as in his role in People Like Us, it's trying to get people to really connect with the emotions of a story. And sometimes, as in this case, it's about getting people to giggle about seeing a famous penis, which doesn't happen very often. To me, all three of those potential outcomes are better than a movie just being forgotten, even if they were decent. There are a few examples in Chris Pine's career that we could point to on that front, but we'll stay away and take the high road (couldn't help it) since he's been such a good sport about the dick talk.

If you want to check out Outlaw King, whether because you're interested in the story or because you're interested in the nudity, the film officially hits Netflix on November 9th. We won't judge you either way.
